Science is integral to a nation’s progress. India realized the potential of Science at the cusp of this century and hence launched a program – the ripples of which will have long-lasting effects.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana or the Young Scientist Incentive Plan is a scholarship program that is launched to encourage students to carry out research in areas concerning basic science.

Where do the funds come for the Scholarship?

The Programme stands well funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India.

Aims of the Programme

The KVPY program aims to assist students to realize and eventually acknowledge their own potential and to eventually impart their services towards the scientific progress of the nation.

What are the eligibility criteria for the KVPY scholarship?

The most basic criteria to earn eligibility for the scholarship is to secure a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the class 10 board examinations. This percentage stands slashed by 10% for SC/ST/PWD as per the reservation norms of India.

Students would also need to qualify for the KVPY examinations to be eligible for the fellowship.

Rewards

As per the scholarship, the KVPY fellow would receive ₹5000 monthly fellowships from the 1st year to the 3rd year of B.Sc/ B. Stat/ B.S./ B.Maths/ Integrated M.S/ M.Sc and an annual grant of ₹20,000.

After the three years of fellowship, the price is enhanced to ₹7000 per month.
