Objectives

The operation of NAM is based on multiple objectives as follows:

NAM provides cost-effective AYUSH healthcare services along with global access to improving AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries, AYUSH facilities at various primary health centers, community health centers, and district hospitals.

NAM strengths state-level institutional capacity through improving AYUSH academic institutions, state government pharmacies, and various drug-testing laboratories.

By adopting good agricultural practices, NAM supports medicinal plants and their cultivation. This objective helps in providing a sustained supply of high-quality raw materials and ingredients, ultimately ensuring high-quality standards and products.

Resources

For AYUSH services, academic institutions, and quality control drugs, the grant-in-aid component will be 75% from the government of India and 25% from the state government; the ratio varies for special category states. For medicinal plants, the grant-in-aid component ratio will be 90:10 from the government of India and the state government.

Expected outcomes

NAM is expected to result in improved AYUSH academic services through constantly upgrading AYUSH academic institutions and improved access to AYUSH services by upgrading AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries. There will be a sustained quality of raw materials maintained for high-quality drugs and pharmaceutical products.
