Under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities, the Central Government offers financial assistance to meritorious students to enable them to complete their metric examination. The assistance is in the form of admission and tuition fees and maintenance allowance for students studying in government or private schools.
Eligibility criteria
- To apply for the scholarship, the student should have scored at least 50% marks in the previous final exam
- The total annual income of the family through all resources should be less than INR 1 lakh
Duration and scholarship rate
The government assistance under this scheme is available for the entire duration of the course. However, the maintenance allowance is provided only for 10 months. The scholarship rates are as below:

Documents needed to apply
- Photograph of the student
- Verification form as provided by the school
- Income certificate issued by a state or union territory competent authority
- Self-certified community certificate for major students or certified by parents for minors
- Self-certified mark sheet of the previous final examination
- Current course year fee receipt
- Bank account details including IFSC code
- Domicile/residence certificate
- Aadhar number; if not available bonafide student certificate from the school
