With urban development being a revenue-generating endeavor, the rural areas quite often tend to miss out on the spotlight. There seems to be nothing much done for their welfare and development of those in rural areas.

No doubt, there are endless schemes and acts devised for the welfare of those residing in rural areas. However, after all these years, we still see the deplorable conditions they live in. In order to implement pre-existing schemes better, there is the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

The key objectives of the Yojana

In a larger scheme of events, the objectives of the scheme go as follows

The development of model villages called Adarsh Grams. This would be done through the implementation of existing schemes that have long been due. It also aims to achieve said development through the creation of new initiatives that are designed for the local context. These creations are subjective and may vary from one village to another, depending on the need.

Funding for the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana

The funding primarily comes from schemes like the Indira Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment scheme, etc.

It also comes from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

The Gram Panchayat’s revenue along with the Central and State Finance Commission Grants and Corporate social responsibility Funds also contribute to the implementation of the scheme.

In conclusion

The active participation of the government in rural development matters makes sure that the rural sections of the nation also develop a self-sustaining economy that can eventually contribute to the progress of the nation.
