Highlights of the STEP scheme for women

Under the STEP scheme, assistance will be provided to women across various sectors. Skills related to specific sectors will be imparted to women so that employment and entrepreneurship are sufficiently harboured among women in areas that need it the most.

Some of the sectors included are agriculture, horticulture, food processing, tailoring, handlooms, stitching, embroidery, zari work, etc.

Except for these, skills and training will also be provided in the computer and IT sectors so that women feel empowered in the modern ways of functioning and running a business.

Target group for the scheme

The scheme primarily aims to target women who are in the age group of 16 years and above as these women are in need of these skills.
