Just a couple of days after the PM of India – Narendra Modi banned 59 Chinese apps, the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission – Niti Aayog has launched the Digital India Atma Nirbhar Bharat App Innovation challenge.

This challenge is posted for Indian Tech entrepreneurs and start-ups and works as a perfect platform for them to elevate their efforts to a national scale. The innovation challenge has been made available on the MyGov website from the 4th of July 2020 and the last date of submission for the entries stands to be July 18th 2020.

Objective of the challenge

The objective of the challenge is to primarily support and build a strong ecosystem for locally developed Indian apps. It also helps the masses realize the vision of the PM for building a Digital India. This eventually adds up to the ultimate dream of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

The need for the challenge

The decision to launch the app innovation challenge came when India banned 59 apps such as UC browser and TikTok. The app innovation challenge is basically a step towards a digital India where each app that is locally developed has a greater following and therefore much deserved fame of its own.
