For the longest time, the Indian labor force has been exploited for the development of other nations. Post-Independence, this had to change. The efforts of laborers who toil day in and out needed to be recognized and rewarded in a manner that sustains their livelihood.

The Shramev Jayate Yojana was launched in October 2014 by the Government of India, recognizing the importance of Labour management.

Objective of this  scheme:

The prime objective of the Shramev Jayate Yojana is to create a conducive environment for industrial development and to pave a way for ease of business. This includes the Government imparting support to skill training for workers.

Achievements:

The yojana made way for the establishment of a Unified Labour Portal that would stand for the rights of the Labourers in the face of exploitation. It was brought to authoritative attention that there was a lot of corruption that had seeped into the system, thereby leading to the over-exploitation of the laborers.

To tackle this adversity, the Shram Suvidha Portal was launched by the Prime Minister to encourage and facilitate a transparent system for the information and database management of labor resources from across the nation.

The efforts of this scheme led to the increase in the wage ceiling of laborers from a meek INR 6500 to INR 15000 per month.

Reception of the scheme:

These labor reforms implemented by the government were received with warm responses. Though certain multinational conglomerates that benefitted from such exploitation did contribute to certain hue-and-cry situations but largely, the nation realizes the importance of this scheme and stands in support of it.
