Maharashtra Asmita Scheme – Sanitary Pads for Girls & Women to Improve Personal Hygiene – The Asmita Scheme launched by the Maharashtra Government will provide 8 small sanitary pads at just ₹ 24 and larger sized pads at ₹ 29. This pricing makes it really affordable to classes whose financial status is not all that great. The government has taken this initiative to emphasize on the fact that the financial spectrum of the masses should not hinder with personal hygiene. Subsequently, this scheme will provide sanitary pads to girls studying in Zilla Parishad schools at ₹ 5. In order to streamline and better execute the distribution of pads in rural areas, the government will also launch an app. As per the strategies laid down by the scheme, if all goes as per plan, we can expect a drastic drop in the number of dropouts among schoolgirls.
