With the growing crisis in the form of the pandemic, the government has realised the importance of the National Ayush Mission (NAM) and has effectively decided to continue the mission till 2021.

Under the implementation of the National Ayush Mission, there will be constant up-gradation of hospitals, dispensaries, educational institutions, pharmacies, laboratories, etc.

Ayush essentially stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. The mission is to offer cost-effective and equitable AYUSH healthcare throughout the entire country and to increase access to services offered. NAM aims to revitalise and strengthen the AYUSH systems thereby making them prominent medical streams in addressing the health crisis that has taken over the world.

Prime objectives of the National AYUSH Mission

The main objectives of the scheme are mentioned herewith:

1. The National AYUSH Mission is launched to provide cost-effective medical assistance to the people in the nation through raising access to AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries.
2. NAM also aims to ensure co-location of various AYUSH services at Primary Health Centre (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs) and several District Hospitals (DH).
3. NAM essentially aims to focus on educational institutions, pharmacies, drug testing and setting up AYUSH laboratories at the State level.
4. Through the implementation of the AYUSH scheme, there will be increased demand for the cultivation of medicinal plants through Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs).
5. NAM will also provide financial assistance to set up clusters through the convergence of cultivation, warehousing, marketing and value addition.
6. The mission ideally focuses on the availability of a sustained supply of AYUSH raw materials. Ayush will also promote the adoption of High-Quality Standards of AYUSH drugs.

How will the Ayush schemes be implemented?

The central government will perform these activities for the implementation of the several components of the Ayush scheme

Offering Ayush services:

• Co-location of several AYUSH facilities at primary, community and even district-level hospitals
• The central government will upgrade the existing government hospitals and government/panchayat/government-aided dispensaries

Educational institutions:

• The centre will focus on the infrastructural development of Undergraduate and Postgraduate institutions
• The centre will also open new AYUSH educational institutions in those states which do not already have such institutions in place.

Quality control of ASU and H Drugs:

• NAM will support states to set up ASU and H pharmacies, co-operatives, PSUs, drug testing laboratories to strengthen the ASU and H drug control Framework.
• Also, the government will provide grants to the State Licensing Authority of ASU and H drugs for providing quality control materials.

In conclusion

Going back to our roots is one way of tackling the crisis. As a nation, we are sitting on heaps of resources that could be used for the larger good and help the underprivileged to gain access to medical attention at affordable prices. People in our country have struggled to find affordable healthcare and this has cost more lives. With the NAM implemented, the Centre aims to reach out more and assist people at the grass-root level.

आयुष अनिवार्य रूप से आयुर्वेद, योग, प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा, यूनानी, सिद्ध और होम्योपैथी के लिए खड़ा है। मिशन पूरे देश में लागत प्रभावी और न्यायसंगत आयुष स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रदान करना और दी जाने वाली सेवाओं तक पहुंच बढ़ाना है। NAM का उद्देश्य आयुष प्रणालियों को पुनर्जीवित और मजबूत करना है जिससे वे दुनिया भर में फैले स्वास्थ्य संकट को दूर करने में प्रमुख चिकित्सा धाराएं बना सकें।

राष्ट्रीय आयुष मिशन के प्रमुख उद्देश्य

योजना के मुख्य उद्देश्यों का उल्लेख यहां किया गया है:

• राष्ट्रीय आयुष मिशन को आयुष अस्पतालों और औषधालयों तक पहुंच बढ़ाकर राष्ट्र में लोगों को लागत प्रभावी चिकित्सा सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए शुरू किया गया है।
• NAM का उद्देश्य प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र (PHCs), सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्रों (CHCs) और कई जिला अस्पतालों (DH) में विभिन्न आयुष सेवाओं का सह-स्थान सुनिश्चित करना है।
• NAM का उद्देश्य अनिवार्य रूप से राज्य स्तर पर शैक्षणिक संस्थानों, फार्मेसियों, दवा परीक्षण और आयुष प्रयोगशालाओं की स्थापना पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना है।
• आयुष योजना के क्रियान्वयन से अच्छी कृषि पद्धतियों (जीएपी) के माध्यम से औषधीय पौधों की खेती की मांग बढ़ेगी।
• एनएएम खेती, भंडारण, विपणन और मूल्यवर्धन के अभिसरण के माध्यम से क्लस्टर स्थापित करने के लिए वित्तीय सहायता भी प्रदान करेगा।
• मिशन आदर्श रूप से आयुष कच्चे माल की निरंतर आपूर्ति की उपलब्धता पर केंद्रित है। आयुष आयुष दवाओं के उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले मानकों को अपनाने को भी बढ़ावा देंगे।

आयुष योजनाओं को कैसे लागू किया जाएगा?

केंद्र सरकार आयुष योजना के कई घटकों के कार्यान्वयन के लिए इन गतिविधियों को अंजाम देगी

आयुष सेवाएं प्रदान करना:

• प्राथमिक, सामुदायिक और यहां तक ​​कि जिला स्तर के अस्पतालों में कई आयुष सुविधाओं का सह-स्थान
• केंद्र सरकार मौजूदा सरकारी अस्पतालों और सरकारी/पंचायत/सरकारी सहायता प्राप्त औषधालयों को अपग्रेड करेगी

शिक्षण संस्थानों:

• केंद्र स्नातक और स्नातकोत्तर संस्थानों के बुनियादी ढांचे के विकास पर ध्यान केंद्रित करेगा

एएसयू और एच दवाओं का गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण:

• एनएएम एएसयू और एच दवा नियंत्रण ढांचे को मजबूत करने के लिए एएसयू और एच फार्मेसियों, सहकारी समितियों, पीएसयू, दवा परीक्षण प्रयोगशालाओं की स्थापना के लिए राज्यों का समर्थन करेगा।
• साथ ही गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण सामग्री उपलब्ध कराने के लिए एएसयू और एच दवाओं के राज्य लाइसेंसिंग प्राधिकरण को भी सरकार अनुदान देगी।
