Responsibilities of a fellow
Fellows should understand the historical, geophysical, agro-ecological, socio-economic contexts of a district. Their responsibilities include:
- Working with institutions for the poor for boosting their efficiency and assisting them with rights and entitlements
- Facilitating capacity building for self-help groups and democratic institutions, such as panchayat
- Socio-economically analyzing local areas at the block level and fulfilling people’s needs
- Assisting the district administration in local area planning
- Assisting in better-implementing poverty diminishing initiatives, e.g., National Rural Drinking Water Program
- Discovering and strategizing more efficient ways of program delivery by the district administration
- Designing and implementing innovative projects
- Providing honest feedback on rural development initiatives
