Maharashtra has been on the frontlines for farmers committing suicides. For any state, it is the saddest thing to know that its farmers live unhappily. And while a lot of their unhappiness stems from various reasons like irregular rainfalls and corrupt middlemen, the biggest reason for farmers being unhappy is poor yields.

Now one cannot immediately alter natural forces in favour of farmers, however, one can educate the farmers about dealing with such conditions. For that reason, the government of Maharashtra has started the Krishi Gurukul Yojana, which is a pro-farmer yojana in the state. This scheme was announced during the 2016-17 budget.

Benefits under the Krishi Gurukul Yojana

Here is a list of benefits farmers can reap from the Yojana that is meant for them:

  1. Technology integration: Enabling farmers to use technology will improve their yield manifold.
  2. Smart work: It gets difficult for farmers to slog in the fields, especially with the lack of nutrition they function with. Teaching them strategies that help them work smart will save their efforts in the long run.
  3. Better results: Smart integration of technology and strategies will not only improve the yield but yield quality yield which would have a higher market value too.

This scheme is valid only for farmers all across the state. The scheme, as of now, only covers residents of Maharashtra state alone.
