Deforestation is one of the major contributors to the climate crisis we all currently face. Rising carbon dioxide levels and diminishing Ozone can pave a way to diseases much worse than the one we are in the midst of right now. The only solution to this crisis is to do the exact opposite of what has led us to this crisis – afforestation.

About the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana

Earlier this month, the CM of Jharkhand Hemant Soren launched the Birsa Harit Green Village scheme on the 4th of May. The scheme is primarily implemented by the Rural Development Department. There is a specific target set to plant useful, fruitful plants across various parts of the nation.

According to the scheme, roughly around 5 lakh families will be given to plant 100 fruitful plants and will also be given a lease of these plants so they get to enjoy the yield that comes from these plants for monetary help.

The Birsa Harit Gram Yojana will be operated under the MNREGA scheme and would be a complementary scheme to the water conservation scheme and water management scheme.

Benefits of the scheme

Due to the implementation of this scheme, the total number of local and migrant laborers has increased exponentially in those areas where the scheme is being implemented in full force. The leading factor for such enhanced employment is the fact that the employees get paid on time which is crucial for workers who work on daily wages.

In conclusion

Along with employment opportunities for those who find it hard to make money, this scheme also benefits nature on a great level, thereby working as a double-edged sword against environmental crisis and unemployment as well.
