Farmers face a lot of financial issues simply because a good yield offers them a good income and a good yield primarily relies on good climatic conditions; which hasn’t been all that favourable lately.

Unfavourable climatic conditions affect a farmer’s yield, making it difficult to extract even their basic sustenance from what they earn. To assist poor farmers who have it very difficult owing to irregular yields, the authorities in Odisha have launched the Odisha Balaram Yojana.

About the scheme

The Odisha Government launched the Balaram Yojana to basically offer financial assistance to the farmers. It gives a collective rural credit of ₹1,040 crore to landless ranchers who are currently jobless due to the pandemic situation.

There are roughly around seven lakh cultivators who not only find it difficult to make it month to month with their meagre earnings due to irregular weathers but now the whole pandemic situation has made their personal finances plunge from bad to worse.
