The Jnanabhumi Scholarship initiative was launched by the Government of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Department in the year 2017. This is a consolidated digital platform for the state government of Andhra Pradesh to roll out several scholarship programs for the SC, ST, OBC & physically disabled students. This process was done through the E-Pass portal, which existed before this platform was created.

However, these scholarships are mostly for Pre Matric and Post Matric benefits. The digital platform has all the information related to the scholarships including online application procedures, checking status, and many other facilities. Apart from these, it is a platform that implements the educational welfare activities of the state government of Andhra Pradesh.

Objectives of the scheme

The goal of the Jnanabhumi Scholarship initiative is to consolidate information related to educational welfare programs and scholarships in one digital platform. This will enable the students to procure information without any hassles and also assist in application procedures through online submissions of details and documents. The scholarships have been designed to help the SC, ST, and physically disabled students.

This initiative empowers and encourages the cause of education to all and also promotes inclusivity. Apart from scholarships, the Jnanabhumi platform also aims at providing information related to affiliations of the Board, training programs, display of exam results, and many such educational services.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for Pre-Matric and Post Matric scholarships have been etched out on the website. All students have to be a resident of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The student has to belong to SC, ST, community, or be physically disabled to avail of the scholarship.

The family income for the Pre-Matric scholarship application is Rs 2 Lakh per annum and not more than the capping amount. The Post Matric criteria include varied income capping amount ranging from Rs 1 Lac to Rs 2 Lac for different categories of SC, ST, and physically disabled.

Registration

The eligible student has to go to the official website https://jnanabhumi.ap.gov.in/ for all the procedures related to availing scholarship. One has to fill out the respective application form online, then verify the details and attach signed copies of the form and documents, verified by the principal, for submission.

The forms can be also procured from the head of institutes of the students. The notification text will be sent to the mobile for confirmation of submission. The application status can be checked online by logging in to the website.

The documents required for application are Ration Card Income Certificate number, Cast or Community Certificate, ID issued by Meeseva, Aadhaar Number, Bank Account details, Passport size photographs, and mark sheets of the previous year.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under the scheme, the eligible students can avail scholarships for pre and post matric education. The scholarship amounts vary from Rs 750 to Rs 3500 depending on the class in which he or she is studying.

Also, the students get book grants as a part of the scholarship program. The post-matric scholarship amount can range from full fee reimbursement, Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, depending on the study course of the student.
