Over the past couple of months, several initiatives have been undertaken to help students out since they have been one of the most vulnerable groups to be affected by the ills of lockdowns. Not only have they missed out on their academics, but their parents have had to make ends meet, equip students with technological access and all this requires funds.

The Andhra government, in light of the issue, has announced a scheme titled the Andhra Pradesh Amma Vodi scheme. This scheme aims to help out students by offering them financial assistance in these uncertain times.

The state government will transfer the said amount to the beneficiary’s bank account in January 2021.

Under the ₹15,000 sent to mothers for their children’s education, ₹1,000 will be deducted for the improvement of sanitation and hygiene facilities in the school. The state government has also exempted the 75% attendance requirement bearing in mind the current Covid-19 crisis.

In conclusion

This proves to be a great scheme in the long run for students who are willing to pursue education but are unable to do so due to financial constraints. With this scheme in place, the State government will be able to reach out to more students and help them gain sound education which will eventually make them assets to the state workforce.
