With the onset of the pandemic, work cultures all around the world have seen massive shifts. Offices have now become redundant and Work from Home or WFH is the new normal. Running businesses virtually, or setting up businesses on digital platforms which can be managed remotely are solutions that are being looked into.

As more and more businesses are looking at remote options, one thing stands to be of core importance for the remote option to work – sound connectivity. You would definitely not want your Zoom meeting dying out on you right when you are pitching an important point to your client, right?

To make digitisation all the more deep-rooted, the government of India has introduced a scheme that stands to be quite the need of the hour – the Pradhan Mantri Ghar Tak Fibre scheme 2021.

About the PM Ghar Tak Fibre scheme 2021

Surveys suggest that only a handful of village panchayats were connected by optical fibre prior to 2014. However, in the last five years, around 1.5 lakh village panchayats have enjoyed the benefits of unlimited internet connectivity, and have had their business models soar to the heights of success.

The plan forward for the scheme on the implementational frontier is to connect around 6 lakh villages of the nation with optical fibre as per the Prime Minister’s vision of a Digital India.

The implementational unit of the scheme

CSCs will be in charge of connecting villages across the nation through an optical fibre network. The CSC essentially aims to provide fibre to the Home broadband internet connectivity.

Industrial sectors which will benefit by optical fiber connectivity:

These sectors, in the rural areas, stand largely underdeveloped. The implementation of the fast network connection will bring better facilities to the rural people and contribute to their overall progress in the long run.

Summing it up

The pandemic has shown that a sound internet connection is a key between businesses surviving lockdowns and those that did not. Being abreast with technology pays off, and that is something a lot of entrepreneurs have learnt the hard way over the last one and a half year.

With internet connections now being provided by the government of India, companies have more real estate to reach out to, and the rural residents have more access to facilities – which is actually the need of the hour.

Newer job opportunities will also open up for the people and it will help the local youth of rural areas especially girls to become independent and to work towards supporting their families.

In the long run, internet connectivity brings the world closer, and this might just be what inches our nation towards overall holistic development. While we stand interconnected as a nation, resources will be deployed more readily and help will reach those who need it, and reach faster. Internet connectivity might just be the move that gets us through the line, help up the fight the pandemic more effectively and arise a super nation.
